Tariq bin Ziyad (ุทุงุฑู‚ ุจู† ุฒูŠุงุฏ): A renowned Berber general who led the Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula (present-day Spain and Portugal) in 711 AD. He is best known for his decisive victory at the Battle of Guadalete, which marked the beginning of Islamic rule in the region. The Rock of Gibraltar is named after him, derived from the Arabic Jabal Tariq (ุฌุจู„ ุทุงุฑู‚), meaning “Mountain of Tariq”.
